Deciding to Build a New Elementary School

In 2016, Rose Tree Media School District took the first step in its long-term plan by conducting an enrollment and demographic study, evaluating a feasibility and capacity study, and holding community input workshops. Through this process, the district identified the most critical need to address – increased enrollment demand in its elementary schools. The district reviewed five possible solutions to address this challenge:

After a thorough evaluation and analysis, the school board selected Option 1 as the preferred option to begin addressing the district’s most critical facility need. For more information on the evaluation criteria, view the Options Evaluation Matrix.

After choosing to build a new school on new land, the next step was identifying and evaluating potential sites. The district reviewed 23 potential sites before selecting land in Edgmont Township to build a new elementary school.
